cat:
Donald sat with glazed eyes. He was retired. He rocked in his chair. His wife shouted at him to paint the fence. He rocked. He read his favorite books over and over. His wife shouted at h…im to do something, anything. Donald rocked. And as he rocked a spark grew under the chair in which he sat. With every rock the spark found kindling in the recesses of his still youthful mind. That kindling grew into a fire which could not be stopped. Donald knew he had to go back to work! But not just any old menial work. The work he had dreamed of since he was a kid! Donald stood up from his rocker. And then at last: HE ROCKED!
Chosen by Mandle
Donald Dowell is a nice old man in his eighties, retired for many years. Donald s life, except for his "intolerable" wife, is quiet. But Donald feels empty. He has the socalled retiree's syndrome : he s bored to death! The only way to cure his boredom is TO GO BACK TO WORK. After many hours spent in… his city, trying to get hired for various jobs, he finally finds his calling: to be a GHOSTBUSTER! Donald will try to become Bob Delano s assistant (the most famous occult detective in Ireland), be involved in the investigation of Barker Manor and, hopefully, solve the mystery. Cons: The non-linear style of gameplay and story often left me with no clear sense of direction making it very difficult to proceed.
The tributes brighten this game! At various moments during the game numerous references are presented, some more explicit and others more discreet. There are from great writers (Joyce, Kafka, E. Hemingway, Jonathan Swift...), some classic games of Point n´Click (especially titles of LucasArts), TV series of the 80s and some more older (Abbot and Costello/Laurel and Hardy).
There are also for characters of comics (Marvel, DC ...) but in the sequential art, one in particular caught my attention: that was made to Tiziano Sclavi/Sergio Bonelli and two characters of his most famous works. This was Very nice!
