Unsurprisingly a Yahtzee game too, 5 Days a Stranger. It was on the front page of "The Home of the Underdogs".

Excellent retro atmosphere and definitely scary gore, well done!
I had some problems with the puzzles, but since the game is short I could power my way through it.
Congrats again.

General Discussion / Re: RIP Slasher

I did not know Slasher very well. The sheer amount of games listed in his profile — eighty-seven! — and the kind words in this thread show how he valued the community and the commuinity valued him back.

Voice acting was hilarious!
A nice, short, polished game, I loved it!

A great little game, which manages to narrate a touching story without being pathetic. Graphics are cute, UX is comfortable to use. Minor bugs:

- Inventory bar distracted me in some screens (in the yard, where you have to move up and the inventory GUI keeps popping up).
- When PC takes something, it should beforehand move near it and then have the object added to the inventory.

Art style looks really interesting, keep it up!

Feedback:

  • The game is playable on Linux with the AGS engine, if you add a Linux download you will get more players to try this.
  • Intro is nice but unskippable. Make it skippable.
  • I am not a fan of all-caps font for display-box font.
  • Excellent Mondrian choice.
  • Interaction and graphics are both satisfying.
  • I am still playing the game, but I am not sure making the character clickable is the right choice, as sometimes this hides what is behind Jason.
  • Characterisation is good too, I am starting to dislike Jason.
  • Using "rolling paper" on "weed" should return some funny line and not a "Can't do that".

All in all I got "Robot finds kitten" vibes from this, a short & to the point game. Well done!

An interesting game, in which the characters goes through very rough times and a metamorphosis.
I really enjoyed the puzzle, they managed to be unique and fit the theme. Bits of poetry through the game were good too, added to the atmosphere. Did not like the old sierra interface that much to be honest, as it didn't add that much to the above mentioned puzzles or the game itself.

I still have to finish it (outside General store), congrats on the release!

Art style is very interesting, looking forward to see this finished!

Quote from: Joacim Andersson on Sat 25/02/2023 17:34:21Thank you, his name is however Melrin not Merlin.

What a faux pas! I recall there even was an in-joke about the correct spelling!

I have fond memories of Merlin and I can feel the old school vibes
Spoiler
a piece of wax inside a handkerchief, primo adventure inventory xD

Well done!

I have finished it and I agree with Ian, this is lovely game and it is remarkable that it was done in just a month! I do suggest to release a v1.1 where
  • the main character walks a little bit faster
  • transitions from screen to screen are faster
  • there is no "pause" before interactions (`look at` replies, etc.)

A really sweet production, hope to see more from you!

This game is extremely good, so much that I am taking notes while playing it for a review:

Code: ags
- funny
- brief pause not funny
- graphics are functional and at times quite good to look at too
  especially inside
- becky is slow walking and when interact slow transition
- dialogues and characters funny
- good retro without nostalgia
- lots of interaction
- history is a nice touch
- new places popping up, a library, excellent
- lovely rain effects
- puzzles make sense
- some cliky puzzles

Alas on my platform (Linux, with the AGS engine) saving apparently did not work! I wonder why, and if that is the same on Windows too... I will investigate if my version of the engine is too old or broken.

It is a superb production and I am having much fun playing it, bar the main character being a tad slow and taking a pause at each interaction. Congratulations!

This was extremely useful, thanks!

Mastodon is a very welcoming place — and in the last days pretty crowded too.  Pick an instance that you fancy and you are set. I have seen adventure games and general artsiness on mastodon.art, but it really does not matter as instances are federated and you can follow/post/reply from everywhere.
