Posted on facebook but maybe you guys can help?

When I was growing up (around 25-30 years ago, let's say), I was buying some lego like product (I think it was called TEDDEX (or at least sounded something like this) that were all about robots, that were able to transform into spaceships, or cars and whatnot.

Anyone knows what product(s) I'm talking about? I'd love to find them again...

EDIT:

I found them.

They are called TENTE (Spanish company) and the specific series was called Roblock. Discontinued now, I'm sad... :'(

Perhaps you guys know... (before I go about asking the companies and such)...

You know the game "Cave Story" ( http://www.cavestory.org/ )

The game was developed by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daisuke_Amaya ), but is was later developed for wii, and steam by Nicalis.

Who holds the (copy)rights for the music? Is Pixel a part of Nicalis? Should I contact him, before contacting Nicalis? Any ideas?

Thanks ^_^

So, yet another semi--silly question from me.

As I said, I'm coming to London in a month for the Music Education Expo. And I'm invited in an awards ceremony, which is a black tie.

I do NOT have a black tie formal wear. I have a great very dark grey suit, with a brilliant shirt and tie, but that's not the formal take on what a "black tie" is, right?

My problem is that I'm quite fat now and not sure I'll be able to find a place to rent a black tie wear, plus I am very limited with time (and money)... So my question.

Would it be out of the question to wear something classy (the suit I mentioned) in a black tie evening? Or will I be seen like a total jackass?

Problem solved, just in case someone else is interested... I asked a friend who was there last time and she, indeed, tried the dongle, only to get it blocked in like 5 minutes.

So the only solution is the 250 quid... :-/

Time to dig deeper in my pockets!

LOL

It's a bit more complex than that since I have to calculate shipping costs of the items to sell. I live in Greece, so that's a costly option! ;D. Which means that I simply can't go around London with all my scores (Which count to 10s of thousands at this moment). Sadly I'm not in London anymore, in which case things would've been simpler.

But still thanks and I see what you mean, I really do!

It's 4G according to Vodafone and it appears that there is a strong signal there... :-.

But you're right. It's quite risky. On the other hand 250 is simply too much at this point! :( I'm quite torn.

Thanks though...

I will be having a booth in the Barbican for the Music Education Expo, in March 12th and 13th. It's rather pricey (around 1000 quid), plus all the tickets, shipping, paying people to be there, etc. Ok.

But I need Internet, in order to have some kind of credit card through paypal payment system.

And if I go the normal way the Internet for two bloody days is 250 GBP! Yes 250!!!!

I find this amazingly expensive, or myself dead cheap, but I really am not sure I can afford that with a happy heart.

So,

If I get some mobile internet, through a 4G or something like that, will it work in Barbican, or will they have barred such services, so I'll be stuck without the Internet? You know some kind of extra device that generates a 4G plus wifi signal to catch with your laptop and use that. It will definitely be cheaper... I can even buy one from Greece from Vodafone, for example and get it working in Vodafone UK, as far as I know.

But will it work? Any ideas?

EDIT: something like this, for example: http://www.vodafone.co.uk/shop/dongles-and-mobile-wi-fi/index.htm

I'd guess that they will have barred such services inside the building, since they will want to sell Internet connection, but COME ON!!! 250 quid?!?!?

Thank you CaptainD!

I think that the Budoken SF looks rather nice... I can't download right now, but I will in the next couple of days and give it a go...

So,

I'm preparing to publish a collection of 11 works for piano duet, aimed at a student - teacher pair. All is well, and the music is so nice and catchy this time that I decided to ask a writer to do fairytales based on the stories. And she did!

So, now, that I'm preparing the work to be published (printed) I have come to a small obstacle: For all texts, I use Palatino (ok, bliah, but it works for classical music), but in this case it seems highly innapropriate to use such a font. And need recomendations for fonts to use for fairytales.

Info:
Page size: 23,5x31 cm (Portrait)
Font size (if Time new Roman): 12
Size of stories: One page each
Example of titles: "Fifi on the moon", "The Duke and the cook", "The Pirates Biathlon", etc

My issues:
1. Which font?
2. Should I organize it in 2 collumns (which works so far, but again for classical music, prefaces, etc, not actual stories).

Any ideas?

Anybody know how to buy a single shoe? I found a brand new converse and would legit wear it if I knew how to find a partner for it.
Just buy a pair and use one... :P

Yes, my guess is also that the key would survive... :-/ The body burns rather easily, compared to metals...

If I may ask your opinion about something, please, in the meantime.

I plan on publishing (B&W) a work for piano, with computer game themes. As such I'd hope to have illustrations that remind a computer game, ergo pixel art.

Do you think that pixel art would look good printed in paper in greyscale?

Examples of other scores with illustrations that I've published:

I have a lovely 3 minute piano work, and I'd like to make an animation short based on a "script" of mine.

Do you guys have any idea how much it would cost me something like this? I know that it's a very vague question, but...

As I thought it would be then! Right now, as it stands an image at 72 dpi is 87x116 cm, while at 300 dpi I get 20x28 roughly. So it's almost enough for my purposes!

Thanks!

[idiot mode]

I have several scanned illustrations (for the kickstater project) which are at a certain size, scanned at 72 DPI.

If I go inside GIMP (or PS) and change the dpi to a higher setting (300 dpi, which is necessary for printing) the size, obviously is reduced. If I actually go ahead and DO THAT, does it destroy the scan quality, or I'm fine with such 'conversion' taking place?

Alternatively I could just ask them to rescan them at 300 dpi, but because most are in A3 size, I think that it's not exactly easy to do... :-/

[/idiot mode]

Thanks ^_^

Premiere Pro CC vs Sony Vegas Pro 12

Comments on this? Keep in mind that Premiere is only available for download, at 19.99$ per month (annual plan), while Sony Vegas is cheaper.

Anyone has experience on any, or both?

I'm looking for political/social/economic serious poetry, to set on contemporary classical music...

Where on earth to look, that doesn't involve "check the library" kind of reply? I've been looking in poetry forums, but in all honesty the sheer huge amount of poetry, plus the unwillingness of the forum members to help out makes it really difficult...

First of all thanks for your replies, on my little powerpoint issue. Unfortunately I've not been able to produce any decent results. The second link (Open Broadcasting) has problems on my computer, but I've still got to check it to other computers I have... and I simply do not have Powerpoint 2010 (office) and I won't get into torrent stuff... :-/

Still thank you for all your help! You are always lovely!

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a screen video capture tool. I need to capture power point presentations, which apparently are quite big... :-/

Fraps and camstasia, failed thus far (unless I'm not using them well, but at least from camstasia I know I'm doing the right thing...).

Any ideas? Or how to export a PPT file into a movie file?

Ok.

This is almost too much!

THANK YOU KIND SIR! THANK YOU!
